What is the University of Applied Sciences Student Representation (FHV)?

The University of Applied Sciences Student Representation (FHV) is the highest student representative body at the USTP. It consists of a total of 9 mandataries, as well as 9 offices and working groups. The members of the FHV are elected through a list-based electoral system.

Currently, the FHV is composed of the “FEST (Fraktion Engagierter Studierender)” with 8 mandates and the “AG (AktionsGemeinschaft)” with 1 mandate.

Responsibilities of the FHV

The FHV is responsible for matters concerning the entire University of Applied Sciences.

It…

  • represents all students of the USTP
  • …represents them vis-à-vis the management (administration) and the collegium (teaching and research)
  • is responsible for the strategy and organisation of the student representation work
  • counsels students on general, legal and social matters
  • organises university-wide events
  • manages the budget of the entire students representation
  • appoints the offices and their persons in charge

Benefits resulting from the work of the FHV

Members of the FHV*…
  • strengthen their teamwork skills
  • gain management experience by representing one or more degree programmes and continuing education programmes
  • participate in training sessions on topics such as study law, quality assurance, management, and more
  • participate in UAS bodies (e.g. the collegium) and in meetings with UAS service units, including the management
  • may have up to 8 ECTS credits per semester recognised on the basis of their work in student representation (1)
  • are entitled to an exemption from compulsory attendance pursuant to a decision of the collegium (2)
  • may apply to be examined by an examination board already on their second examination attempt (3)
* Excluding persons in charge (Sachbearbeiterinnen): they are subject to the regulations for JGVs*. (1) A selection of courses that may be recognised is available from the respective Study Representatives (STV). This is a statutory provision pursuant to the Students’ Union Act (HSG. (2) No accountability is required regarding how this time is used; however, this is by no means a reduction of academic requirements. It constitutes an extension of the HSG by a decision of the collegium. (3) This provision exists because representation work may lead to personal conflicts with individual lecturers. It is a statutory provision pursuant to the HSG.

FHV members

The mandataries of the FHV decide on amendments to the ÖH statue, major budget expenditures, the appointment of offices, and the merging of degree programmes and continuing education programmes into a joint Study Representation (STV). They meet for ordinary meetings at least twice per semester. The topics discussed and decisions adopted at these meetings can be found in the meeting minutes on our download page. The current statute is also available there. The current mandataries are:
