About #freetheater
Go to the Landestheater Niederösterreich for free, enjoy theater performances as often as you like and no matter how old you are! A new and first-time cooperation between the Landestheater Niederösterreich and the St. Pölten UAS students’ union makes it possible. Incidentally, this kind of cooperation between a theater and a university of applied sciences is unique in the whole of Austria. Thanks to the #freetheater collaboration, all 3,000 students at St. Pölten UAS have been able to attend regular performances at the Landestheater Niederösterreich as often as they wish free of charge since the 2018/19 winter semester.
#freetheater is financed by the St. Pölten UAS students’ union and the Landestheater Niederösterreich.
How does #freetheater work?
Tickets can be reserved by telephone (02742 908080 600) or collected from the Landestheater ticket office at Rathausplatz 19 from seven days before the respective performance. You will get the best seats, if available. Only the 1st price category is excluded. Important when collecting tickets from the ticket office or at the box office: show your student ID. Of course, it is also possible to attend a performance spontaneously if tickets are still available. The box office on the day of the performance opens one hour before the performance begins. Please note: The free tickets are not transferable.
Students of St. Pölten UAS receive one free ticket per performance. If you still want to bring a ticket for someone who cannot come to the box office and show their student ID, you will pay 1 euro for their ticket. You can bring tickets for a maximum of 2 fellow students. You should always have your student ID with you on the evening of the performance.
Which events can be attended?
With the #freetheater campaign, all repertoire performances in both venues of the Landestheater Niederösterreich can be attended, even several times. The only exceptions are premieres, performances for children and young people, special events (e.g. New Year’s Eve, gala evenings, external events, etc.) and tickets in the 1st price category.
